New
England Roofing offers a 6-Part Roofing System: |
1.
Ice & Water shield/ Bitchathane |
A
self-adhering, waterproofing shingle underlayment designed to protect
against water infiltration due to ice dams or wind driven rain. |
|
|
2.
Drip Edge |
A
non-corrosive material installed around the perimeter of the roof,
to allow water run-off to drip clear of underlying
construction and keep the trim protected. |
|
3.
Felt/Underlayment |
|
A
sheet of asphalt-saturated material (often called tar paper) used
as a secondary layer of protection for the roof deck. |
4.
Flashing |
Pieces
of metal used to prevent the seepage of water around any intersection
or protrusion in a roof system, such as vent pipes, chimneys, valleys
and joints at vertical walls. |
|
5.
Shingles |
|
25,
30, 40, 50 or Lifetime shingles are available. |
6.
Ridge Vent: |
Cutting
back the plywood 3 inches on each side of ridge and applying a fibrous material that is covered with cap shingles. This allows hot
air to
escape as it rises to the top of the attic. |
